SAP activities usage

I am new to SAP automation. I need to understand the usage of following activities -

  1. Expand ALV Hierarchical Table
  2. Expand ALV Tree
  3. Expand Tree
  4. Click Picture on Screen
  5. Click Toolbar Button

Thanks,
Ritaman

@Ritaman_Baral

As each name suggest…

  1. In sap for going into different menus we see a tree like structure on the left to expand that it is used
  2. Is similar to 1 with a different type of element with sub nodes
  3. Is similar to 1 and 2 with a plus elements in the tree with parent
  4. This is more like a image related activity
  5. This is to click the top tool bar options

Please check thsi for detailed explanation

Hi @Ritaman_Baral

  1. Expand ALV Hierarchical Table: This activity is used to expand hierarchical tables in an SAP ALV (ABAP List Viewer) grid. ALV grids are used to display tabular data in SAP systems. When working with a hierarchical table in an ALV grid, you can use this activity to expand the rows and display the child nodes or sub-level data.
  2. Expand ALV Tree: Similar to the Expand ALV Hierarchical Table activity, the Expand ALV Tree activity is used to expand tree structures in an SAP ALV grid. Tree structures in ALV grids represent hierarchical or nested data, where each node can have child nodes. This activity allows you to expand the tree nodes and display the underlying data.
  3. Expand Tree: The Expand Tree activity is used to expand tree nodes in SAP systems that use a tree control for data representation. It allows you to automate the expansion of nodes in a tree hierarchy. By expanding tree nodes, you can access and interact with the data or sub-nodes contained within them.
  4. Click Picture on Screen: The Click Picture on Screen activity is used in SAP automation when you need to interact with a specific graphical element or image on the screen. This activity enables you to identify and click on a particular picture or image in the SAP application user interface. It is helpful when the element you want to interact with does not have a unique identifier or selector.
  5. Click Toolbar Button in UiPath: This activity is specific to UiPath, an RPA (Robotic Process Automation) tool. The Click Toolbar Button activity allows you to automate the clicking of toolbar buttons within an SAP application. It provides a convenient way to interact with the toolbar buttons that are typically found at the top or bottom of SAP screens. You can specify the name or identifier of the toolbar button to be clicked.

Hope it helps!!

Hi @Ritaman_Baral

In UiPath, these activities are commonly used in automating tasks involving SAP applications. Let’s go through each activity and understand its purpose:

1. Expand ALV Hierarchical Table: This activity is used to expand a hierarchical table within an SAP ALV (ABAP List Viewer) grid. ALV grids can have hierarchical structures where rows can be expanded or collapsed to show or hide additional details. By using the Expand ALV Hierarchical Table activity, you can automate the process of expanding specific rows in the ALV grid.

2. Expand ALV Tree: This activity is used to expand a tree node within an SAP ALV grid that follows a tree structure. ALV trees allow the organization of data in a hierarchical manner, similar to a directory tree. The Expand ALV Tree activity enables you to automate the expansion of specific tree nodes within the ALV grid.

3. Expand Tree: This activity is used to expand a node within a general tree structure. It is not specific to SAP ALV grids but can be used in various scenarios where tree-like structures are present. By providing the selector or identifier of the tree node, you can automate the expansion of that particular node using the Expand Tree activity.

4. Click Picture on Screen: This activity is used to locate and click on a specific image or picture on the screen. It is particularly useful when the application or element you want to interact with does not have a reliable selector or when there is no available activity specifically designed for that element. You can capture an image of the target element and use the Click Picture on Screen activity to automate the clicking action.

5. Click Toolbar Button: This activity is used to automate clicking on a button within an application’s toolbar. Toolbars often contain various buttons or icons that perform specific actions. By specifying the toolbar button’s selector or identifier, you can use the Click Toolbar Button activity to automate the button-clicking action.

These activities enable automation of specific interactions within SAP applications and other scenarios involving tree structures or image-based interactions. They help streamline and accelerate processes that involve navigating, expanding, or interacting with elements in SAP systems or other applications.

Hope it helps!!

Hi @Ritaman_Baral

Expand ALV Hierarchical Table: This activity expands the parent ALV tree to the selected node. After indicating the SAP node element from the SAP GUI window, the selected node path is displayed in the activity.
Expand ALV Tree: This activity expands the ALV tree to the selected node. After indicating the SAP tree element from the SAP GUI window, the tree list with all available nodes and items is displayed in the activity.
Expand Tree: This activity expands the tree to the selected node. After indicating the SAP tree element from the SAP GUI window, the tree list with all available nodes and items is displayed in the activity.
Click Picture on Screen: This activity clicks on a picture on the screen. The picture can be specified by its coordinates or its OCR text.
Click Toolbar Button: This activity clicks on a toolbar button. The button can be specified by its coordinates or its OCR text.

Hope it helps!!

1,2,3. expand tree structures such as this. Just try each of them until it works for your specific UI tree

4. click specified image on SAP screen
5. click any button on the toolbar

Wow amazing.
Just one request , for 1,2,3 could you please post one clear picture and highlight the selection that we want to select for better clarity ?

Thanks,
Ritaman.
