How to drag and drop file between local system to web application?

I am trying to drag n drop file from local system to my application but i am not able to do it.
can any one tell me how to perform it

I am able to drag file but I am still stuck how to activate back browser window where i have to drop my file ?
do you have idea about it how can i perform it ?
