Differences between Task Mining and Task Capture

I did a little bit of research using Gemini on the differences between the two. But was still wondering about a few things. Should we be using Task Mining for larger workflow opportunities and only be using Task Capture for small to medium opportunities? What all is required to begin a Task Mining activity? Can free users utilize Task Mining or is this limited to just Licensed Users ?

Hi @douglas.jarvis

Hope it will help

Thanks

No. It will require license.

Hi @douglas.jarvis

  • Task Mining is better for large-scale discovery where you want to analyze how many users perform a process and find automation opportunities using data.
  • Task Capture is more for small to medium processes, documentation, and quick PDD creation based on how a single user performs a task.

To start Task Mining, you need:

  • Task Mining enabled in Automation Cloud
  • Proper licenses
  • Data collection (users/machines) and Automation Hub integration

Free users cannot use Task Mining. It’s available only with the required licenses.
Task Capture, on the other hand, can be used for free.
