"Word Application Scope" does not have an option to disable "creating a new file" if the file name does not exist

I came to a scenario in which I had to throw an exception if a word file does not exist(Path checking is not an option in this case). But I was not able to do it as it creates the word file if not exists.

There is an option in excel application scope to deselect CreateNewFile. Why is not available in case of word?
