Will platform upgrade void the license?

Installer(.exe or .msi):msi

License type(Free, Trial/License code):licensed

Studio/Robot version:Studio,Robot & Orchestrator

Current behavior: NA

Hi, My Robot,Orchestrator & Studio is of version 2017.1.6522. I would like to upgrade it all to 2018.x as i face Executor start process failed, reason System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80070520): A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated. exception when invoking the robot from orchestrator.

The fix to overcome the above it to upgrade it to 2018 latest version.

Could someone please confirm if the license will be intact even after the upgrade of all 3 components?

For my organization, we did not have to pay in order to upgrade our version. I believe that is standard. I am not sure that what you are facing is a licensing issue, it might be an issue due to the upgrading process instead. Please be sure to let us know once you’ve figured it out.

Thanks for getting back. The error am facing is because our windows machine is upgraded to 2012 R2 with a patch that UIPath 2017.1.6522 doesn’t like.

Am positive that the fix for the exception is to upgrade the version to 2018.x.

Could you please say more on how you upgraded the version ?

Were you have to reactivate the upgraded version?

I unfortunately was not a part of our upgrade process, that was handled by operations. However, we did have a meeting and they stated that the process was mostly a click-through experience. You simply get the UiPath Studio installer for the newer version and install on top using the exe or the msi depending on which you had used previously. There is an academy training regarding the upgrade process but I forget which exactly. I would suggest going and looking there for a step-by-step guide. I have installed new versions of the community edition at home and it saved the licensing information. I think though that this is dependent upon which version you’re upgrading from and what you’re upgrading to.

Hi @vivek.rajs

Please see here and similar articles for Orchestrator and Robot

It is correct that the upgrades are at no extra cost
