Why is C# not supported on Studio Web?

Hello,

It seems really weird to me that C# is not supported on Studio Web. On Studio for desktop, C# has more features. Additionally, in .NET development, C# has long been the preferred language. So why has Studio Web failed to have parity on this?

Thanks.

This decision was made consciously, in the sense, that we looked at Studio Desktop usage and saw that most projects are using VB instead of C#. Given the target for Studio web to have a lower entry barrier, we made that decision to only support VB.

I would attribute the VB usage to the fact that it is the default setting more than anything. People who are new just roll with it. If C# was the Studio Desktop default, I’m sure it would be the most common.

Regardless, I’m sure some years down the line, UiPath will end up regretting that decision. The .NET ecosystem will continue to develop around C#, and VB.NET will crawl along in maintenance mode.
