Why are ExtractionResults optional in Present Validation Station?

Hello,

Disclaimer: The fault is all mine!
And that is because I’ve been wrestling with Present Validation Station for the past couple of hours not realizing that I made a silly mistake. I forgot to submit the Extraction Results to the validation station activity. As a result, every document came up as unrecognized in the PV Station. :open_mouth:

With that out of the way, I was wondering how the workflow managed to run under such circumstances. Shouldn’t extractionResults be a required input to the Present Validation Station?

Otherwise, what is the purpose of the validation station if not to validate work performed by the machine?

To be specific, if I remove the input highlighted, my workflow executes flawlessly with 100% failure rate!

Hello @AndyMenon,

extractionResults is optional because you might have a use case in which you just want to benefit from a simple UI for MANUALLY processing your files completely (so no data extraction whatsoever) . And you can do that, by just not giving any extractionResults input :slight_smile:

Understood. If there are such cases then this makes complete sense. I must now remind myself to make sure I don’t miss putting in the extractionResults when configuring Validation Stations :smiley:
