I’ve been struggling to find official documentation about UiPath’s compatibility with the different Office versions. As far as I’m aware, Office 2019 has 5 versions: 5 perpetual SKU editions of Office 2019 were released for Windows:
Home & Student: This retail suite includes the core applications only – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote.
Home & Business: This retail suite includes the core applications and [Outlook]
Standard: This suite, only available through [volume licensing]
Professional: This retail suite includes the core applications, as well as Outlook, Publisher, and [Access]
Professional Plus: This suite includes the core applications, as well as Outlook, Publisher, Access, and [Skype for Business]
Which one(s) of those are needed or sufficient for UiPath automation.
Thank you @sonaliaggarwal47, but I’ve already looked at both forum posts, and neither discusses different types of Office 2019 (such as Home & Student, Home & Business etc.), but rather different office versions like 2016, 2019 etc.
Hi @prashant1603765, I already went over the provided documentation. There is no information about different types of Office 2019 (such as Home & Student , Home & Business etc.), but rather different office versions like 2016, 2019 etc.
Hi @prashant1603765, I will not be trying this myself, I’m consulting a client. I don’t want them to by the wrong version of office and then have it be incompatible with UiPath.
To my knowledge the only difference is what apps will be included.
As you state in your first post, Home & Student includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote.
Home and Buisness includes ord, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook.
Professional adds Publisher and Access, etc.
Which license your customer should buy depends on their need and what the MS license agreement allows in terms of monitizing on the used applications.
UiPath will work on all versions, however if the customer needs Outlook they should at least buy the Home and Business license.
As far as I understand that thread it’s more about which activities will be available in the community and enterprise editions of UiPath.
I’ve used Office Home & Student at home and Office Professional at work and have never had any issues switching between them/using the included applications. I wouldn’t worry about that in this case, but instead have a look at what your client needs in form of applications and also what MS says about using each specific license.
