when bot is trying is trying to download .msg file from a site . edge browser is showing popup like keep/ delete . i have disabled all the settings in edge browser . but still the popup is coming . is there any system settings need to be done to disable the popup in server
Hi @244185 ,
Try these steps once:
- Disable Microsoft Defender SmartScreen for downloaded files (if allowed by your organization’s security policy).
- Check Edge Group Policies applied via GPO, as they can override local browser settings.
- Add the website to Trusted Sites if it is an internal application.
- Verify that Windows Attachment Manager is not flagging
.msgfiles as potentially unsafe. - Ensure Edge is configured to automatically download files without prompting.
Thanks
You can whitelist the .msg file extension in the registry so SmartScreen ignores it.
Open regedit.
Head to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge (if the Edge key isn’t there, just right-click Policies, select New > Key, and name it Edge).
Right-click inside the Edge folder, select New > String Value, and name it:
ExemptFileTypeDownloadWarnings
Double-click it and set the Value data to:
[{“file_extension”: “msg”, “domains”: [“*”]}]
Close Edge completely (make sure no background processes are running in Task Manager) and open it back up.
Showing the pop-up would have been easy to help here.
Question is irrelevant here but refer this to get solution on the issue.
Hi @244185
I would like to share your details with server IT Team to check the Microsoft Edge policy tell them to check below,
DownloadRestrictions
ExemptFileTypeDownloadWarnings
SmartScreenEnabled
SmartScreenForTrustedDownloadsEnabled
PreventSmartScreenPromptOverrideForFiles
DownloadBlockedForFileTypes
Let me know if It works for you
Thanks & cheers!
Navigate to settings and check if the highlighted setting enabled. Not recommended but try disabling the option.
Hi @244185
This looks like a Smart View login/add-in issue.
Try launching Excel with Show Excel window = True, wait for the Smart View login popup, complete the login using UI Automation, and then perform the refresh.
Also, make sure the bot is running under the same Windows user that works manually.
Hi @244185,
Welcome to the community.
Did you try handling this popup? You can use the Check App State activity to detect it and handle it accordingly.
Thanks!
