What are the limitations on deploying UiPath in a Citrix or VDI or any virtualised environment when the applications under automation are also in the same environment?

UiPath has mentions that deploying UiPath on a developer’s desktop or laptop is usually the more performance solution. What does UiPath mean by this? What are the limitations on deploying UiPath in a Citrix or VDI or any virtualised environment when the applications under automation are also in the same environment?
Example: Selectors are different when both (UiPath & applications) are inside Citrix as compared to when ‘both’ are outside Citrix.
Has anyone encountered any instances that UiPath doesn’t work well inside a virtual environment and works better with the same application when used on developer’s desktop or laptop?
