Use Dynamic Variable within Application Path

Hi All,
I have an application which will be used by various accounts. It is Java based and is downloaded to the users ‘AppData’ folder on Windows each time it is opened.
Is there a way I can make the Application Path link to a ‘Variable’ so that I can plug in the users log on ID for whoever runs it?

I have tried creating a variable but when I edit the application path it just sees the Variable as a string and doesn’t link it to the variable.

Thanks

@elliot.barling

Did you use variable with inverted comma?

If yes then variables are to be used without inverted comma

Cheers

Hi @elliot.barling

Yes you can assign it in a variable:
Use this activity: Get Environment Folder

Try constructing the path ahead of it.

for instance if you wanna pass the path for that downloaded java file with some parameters:
add the parameters in the path

Thanks

How do I get that folder path variable into the Application Path then?

Hope this helps you out!
Happy Automation!

Hi @elliot.barling,

You can find the user dynamically by using environment.UserName. If you pass this to the path it should work.
Or else you could also try System.IO.Path.Combine(Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.UserProfile), “AppData”)
