Use Application/Browser - How on earth to find indicate/pointing?

Hi, firends :saluting_face:
Reading the documentation, I can’t figure out how to point to the application with the newest version of Use Application/Browser :thinking:

Where do I find the “Configure it by pointing to the application…” ?

The Use Application/Browser activity is not yet configured.
Configure it by pointing to the application you are automating or using an input UI Element.
Warning: File path is required

Edit: Link

@bjorn2390

keep the application or web page you need open

then in wokr in scope click on down arrow symbol and it would show all the open apps, select what you need

cheers

Thanks. Tried: Got the application open in background and clicking the arrow, can’t seem to find it. (Also tried other application, no luck) :expressionless_face:

Hi @bjorn2390 ,

In the modern Use Application/Browser activity, configuration is done via Indicate target / Select target, by clicking work in scope arrow and you will able to select what you want.

Thanks, mate. Something’s missing, I think, se above reply.

@bjorn2390

  1. Which compatibility you are on windows or cross platform?
  2. if windows can you try to open notepad or calculator and check if it is seen

cheers

This is normal. The dropdown will not list open apps.

Click the Indicate target / crosshair on Use Application/Browser and select the app or browser window on screen (keep it in foreground).

For web apps, you can simply enter the URL instead of using the arrow.

Windows.
Tried with notepad++
Still no luck

Hi :person_tipping_hand:
Got them side-by-side, still no luck.
Tried to use the URL in the URL field. Still no luck. Tried to drag in a click activity and point from it. Got this error:

This happens because the Use Application/Browser is still not bound to any target.

Do this: remove the empty Use Application/Browser, drag a Click activity first, indicate any element in the app, then right-click that Click and choose Wrap with → Use Application/Browser.

That auto-configures the scope. The arrow/dropdown will not work by itself.

@bjorn2390

are you on latest version of studio as well?

if not can you downgrade uiautomation package and check

I just checked with latest studio and package it looks different from your screenshot

@Maheep_Tiwari

can you please show a screenshot of the wrap option

please validate your answer from LLM before posting as it would mislead users

cheers

Thanks for trying to help med out. Seemed like a good idea, but:
The click activity is also new. Can’t indicate unless it is inside a scope

Also: It has no wrap (or surround) except TryCatch

AAAH, - Thank you! :heart:

Not newest studio version, so I downgraded the UiPath.UIAutomation.Activities package.
Thank you very much, I guess I was ahead of my time and updated the package too early. Apologies to those I confused, but this is probably a mistake others can make too, so I’m glad I asked anyway. Happy New Year to you all!
