Unable to select RPA Workflow in Maestro

Hi, I have a RPA Workflow there are two child bots inside it, Main.xaml and Get_Files.xaml but i am not able to select Get_Files.xaml in Maestro, could you please help. @ashokkarale @yedukondaluaregala

I can see the out param from main not from Get_Files.xaml how, i want to call Get_Files.xaml the Manual Trigger Step. kindly assist on that

@balkishan
As I understand, child XAML files cannot be called directly from Maestro. If we need to call a child XAML workflow independently, we need to create it as a separate RPA workflow, publish it to Orchestrator, and then call that published RPA workflow from Agent or Maestro.

Alternatively, if the Main.xaml does not contain any other code that needs to be executed, we can invoke the child workflow from Main.xaml and then call the Main.xaml workflow directly from Maestro.

but this is actually a strange, for each and every RPA workflow i need to create a separate RAP Workflow, it will look messay,

let’s say i have 5 RPA Workflow, i need to create 5 different parent RPA Workfow?

@balkishan

I agree with that but not in all cases,

If you 5 child workflows that you want to run one after one , then you can all those child workflows in Main.xaml then you can call directly this Main.xaml alone.

but if you have different case like one workflow needs to run at the starting and after some process needs do run from maestro/agent then again you need to run some other RPA workflow then you need to create separate project. OR

You can create some flags in Main.XAML that at first time you can add some flag, if that flag matches then you can define some workflow needs to run like that.

Hi @balkishan,

In a Studio Web project, only workflows explicitly marked as an entry point get exposed outside the project. By default, only “Main.xaml” is set as entry point.

Try below steps to fix this:

  1. Open you project in Studio Desktop, right-click “Get_Files.xaml” in the Project Explorer.
  2. Select Set as entry point, which adds this workflow as an additional entry point, it does not replace Main.xaml.
  3. Confirm “Get_Files.xaml” has clean In/Out arguments defined in the Arguments panel, these are what Maestro will display once it’s selectable.
  4. Go back to Maestro’s process step configuration for “Batch_Resume_Reader”. There should now be an Entry point dropdown. Select “Get_Files.xaml” there, and its Out arguments should populate for you to map downstream in the BPMN flow.

Happy Automation!

but this is not a clean work, it is just like confusing and messy work. even it will confuse the developer itself.

I tried this as well, while re-configuring it was still showing the Main.xaml only , no drop-down , no in/out argument for Get_Files.xaml.

I could not get a drop-down to select particular RPA Workflow.

@balkishan

Yes, it will be messy but that is one way to go.

Good point @balkishan!

Let’s see the product team view on this. @loginerror could you please guide on this how we can achieve this?

I believe this is currently not available for Maestro…

You could technically work around this in a “dirty” way by adding an input argument to Main.xaml and then using it in a Switch or an IF statement to conditionally trigger other workflows with the Invoke Workflow File activity inside that Main.xaml… but then passing the output arguments of that workflow becomes a pain.

So I can’t promise a timeline, but I can say that the Maestro team has already seen this thread and will consider it sooner rather than later.

Hi @loginerror , Thanks for the update.
