Unable To Allocate Testing Runtimes To The Machines Or Use Them To Execute Automations

Why is Testing Runtime option not visible when creating a Machine Template/Standard Machine and when starting a New Job?

Issue Description: Though an On-Premise Orchestrator License key contains Testing Licenses, and they are visible under the License window(Tenant > Licenses) on the Tenant after the License Activation & Allocation( refer below snippet), assigning the Testing Runtimes to a Machine Template/Standard Machine or running a Job in the Automations window of a Folder using Testing runtimes is not possible.(refer below snippets)

Validation Steps:

  1. Validate if "Testing" Licenses are allocated to the Tenant if the key is activated at Host Tenant.
  2. Validate if the "Test Automation" feature is enabled for the specific Tenant at "Host Tenant".
    • If the "Test Automation" feature is not visible under the list of available features for a Specific Tenant in the Host, then it represents that the feature is not installed during the initial installation of Orchestrator.

Resolution: "Test Automation feature" is installed during the initial setup of Orchestrator:

  1. Login to "Host Tenant" signing out from current Tenant.
  2. Click on the vertical 3 dotted button next to the Tenant in which you want to use Testing runtimes and click on Enable/Disable features as shown in the below snippet.

  1. Check the box next to "Test Automation" and save the changes as shown in below snippet.

  1. Now log out from "Host Tenant" and log back into the Tenant to which "Test Automation" feature is enabled.
  2. Navigate to Tenant > Machines > Add a New machine > Machine Template/Standard Machine and you should be able to update Testing Runtimes as shown in Below snippet.

"Test Automation feature" is not installed during the initial setup of Orchestrator:

  1. Login to Server as an Admin where the Orchestrator is setup
  2. Navigate to Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Look for "UiPath Orchestrator" > Right Click on "UiPath Orchestrator" > Click on "Change"
  3. Click on "Next" when the Welcome page of Setup Wizard opens
  4. Click on "Change" when moved to next page on Setup Wizard

  1. Click on "Test Automation" feature > choose "Entire feature will be installed on the local hard drive" and click Next.

  1. When enabling the Test Automation feature, a database with the default name UiPathTestAutomation is created( Refer The Windows Installer ). Choose the SQL Server and the Authentication Mode same as the Orchestrator.
  2. Continue to click next and click on change. This will install/modify the existing Orchestrator installation leveraging the option to use Test Automation feature.
  3. Once the installation is successful, the Test Automation feature is by default enabled for all the available tenants under that Host and you should now be able to provide Testing Runtimes while creating Machines and Jobs. However, it is worth validating it by following resolution steps from ""Test Automation feature" is installed during the initial setup of Orchestrator"

Note: These steps apply only to versions 2021.10.x & higher. For version's 2020.10.x & lower, this option is forbidden and can only be used to run Test Cases though the Test Automation feature is enabled.
