Hi
This is an odd one for me, I’ve not see this before and I’d appreciate some advice on where to look for the cause.
In summary, I’ve returned to a client to work on an automation that was running ok in Sept 2023 before an infrastructure issue stopped all automations.
The automation interacts with AX2012. The client is using UiPath Studio v2022.10.5. The key activities packages are UiAutomation v22.10.3 and System 22.10.3. Windows client is Windows server 2016, .Net framework v4.8
The issue is that UiPath (via Studio or UI Explorer) is not now able to see objects beyond a high-level grouping of of objects. For example:
- the left hand navigation child pane, but not any of the tree or button panel objects below
(picture to be added - upload error)
- the content menu grouping child pane but not any of the controls for the menu items within that pane
(picture to be added - upload error)
When making the lowest level object I can see in the tree the target, I get a COM error: "Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component’:
(picture to be added - upload error)
Observations:
- doesn’t appear to be anything installed to the server since Sept 2023 - only .Net Framework 4.8 cumulative pack
- same problem occurs when using very latest versions of System and UiAutomation activity packages (23.10.8)
- same results for all three options of UiFramework in Ui Explorer - default, Active Accessibility and UI Automation.
- spying other apps such as GoogleChrome and NotePad are not affected, only AX2012 application.
The client is looking at anything else installed or upgraded to the server since September, which might shed light on the cause.
(I’ll upload pics of UiAutomation and the app with target elements highlighted when I can overcome the upload errors)
As always, your help/suggestions/guidance much appreciated.
