When I do not use queue retry, my failed queue items are failed or in progress.
In progress go to abandoned. So do the queue items remain abandoned and failed?
Why does the following diagram show they move to retry and new?

Yes in progress will move to abondoned
And in case you dont enable auto retry in queue then failed items remain as failed and no status change happens…even in diagram the same is outlined

What does it mean by the failed items must have Application type.
Failed items can be because of system/application exception or business exception…auto retry applies only to application exception and not business exceptions
