The user encountered an error while running an Azure script to upgrade UiPath Orchestrator from version 21.10 to 22.10. The error message was: "Migration failed: TestAutomation connection string was not provided. System.ArgumentException: TestAutomation connection string was not provided."
Issue Description
During an upgrade of UiPath Orchestrator on Azure PaaS, the upgrade script may fail with the following error message:
Error:
Migration failed: TestAutomation connection string was not provided.System.ArgumentException: TestAutomation connection string was not provided.
Root Cause
This issue occurs when the Test Automation feature is not configured or in use, yet the Azure deployment or upgrade script still expects a connection string for it.
Resolution
-
Remove or Comment Out the Test Automation Parameter
-
Open the Azure deployment or upgrade script.
-
Locate any parameter or configuration related to the TestAutomation feature (commonly named
testAutomationConnectionStringor similar). -
Remove or comment out this parameter if Test Automation is not being used in the environment.
-
-
Re-run the Upgrade Script
-
Execute the Azure script again after removing the parameter.
-
The upgrade should proceed without the previous error.
-
-
Validate the Upgrade
-
Confirm that the upgrade completes successfully.
-
Verify that Orchestrator components are functioning as expected post-upgrade.
-
Additional Information
The azureAccountPassword parameter may or may not be required depending on your Azure authentication setup:
-
If the user running the script is already authenticated and has sufficient permissions, the parameter might not be necessary.
-
If authentication requires explicit credentials (for example, when using a service account or non-interactive session), this parameter must be included.
-
Test the script behavior in your environment to determine whether this parameter is required.
