Hi everyone,
We have an internal process where employees manually review alert emails and send escalation emails when required.
We are planning to develop a UiPath bot that will only validate whether the manual process has been performed correctly. The bot will:
-
Read data from an Excel file.
-
Check the macro result (Ignore or Send Escalation).
-
Retrieve the expected recipient email ID from SharePoint.
-
Validate the email address (for example, detect missing .com or other invalid formats).
-
Verify that the correct recipient was used.
-
Generate a validation report.
The bot is intended only for internal quality checks and is not replacing the manual process.
Could you please advise:
-
Which UiPath license would be appropriate for this scenario?
-
Is a Basic User license sufficient if a user manually starts the bot?
-
If so, what is the approximate annual or monthly licensing cost?
-
If unattended execution is required in the future, what additional licenses would be needed?
Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Hey @AchantaLavanya — welcome back! Here’s a quick breakdown for your validation bot.
For a manually started bot (attended):
- Studio (or StudioX if the logic stays simple) to build it.
- Attended Robot runtime for the user to launch it via UiPath Assistant.
That combo covers Excel, SharePoint, email validation, and reporting perfectly. There isn’t a license literally called “Basic User” — if you mean a named user triggering the bot manually, the Attended Robot is exactly what you need.
If you go unattended later:
- Add an Unattended Robot runtime + Orchestrator for scheduling and management. Your Studio license stays the same.
Cost-wise: UiPath pricing varies by region and partner, so you’ll need a quote for exact numbers. As a rough ballpark:
- Studio: low-to-mid thousands USD/year
- Attended Robot: low thousands USD/year
- Unattended Robot: higher than attended (mid-to-upper thousands)
My suggestion: Start with Studio + Attended Robot. It’s the cheapest fit for internal QA, and you can upgrade to unattended later without rebuilding anything.
Hope that helps
Thank you so much for informations.

Also make sure you are counting the platform cost and on top of that your unattended or other licenses.
