Is Active Directory needed for Uipath Installation, if so why?

Active Directory is not required for UiPath installation. You can configure the orchestrator to use user account provisioned in the Orchestrator or enable Active Directory integration after you have completed the setup. We have Single Sign On. Would you recommend to enable AD for that reason or why would someone want to use AD?
