Why does the UiPath Assistant fail to connect to Orchestrator after upgrading to 25.10.1, and how can this issue be resolved?
Issue Description
After updating to 25.10.1, the machine fails to connect to Orchestrator.
A "Connection Timeout" error may appear during the connection attempt.
The update process modifies the uipath.config file and removes the existing web proxy property.
Starting with version 2025.10, the proxy configuration for Unattended Robots (service-mode) is managed through a new file called proxy.json, which is located at: %ProgramData%\UiPath\Shared. Refer to the documentation: Redirecting robots through a proxy server
For upgrades from older versions, existing proxy configurations are automatically migrated to the new file.
Resolution
To allow UiPath services to properly access and apply the proxy configuration, manually set ownership of the proxy.json file to the SYSTEM account.
- Navigate to
%ProgramData%\UiPath\Shared. - Locate the
proxy.jsonfile. - Right-click the file and select Properties.
- Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
- In the Owner field, click Change.
- Select SYSTEM (or Administrators group) and click Check Names, then click OK.
- Apply the changes.
- Restart all UiPath services.
- Confirm that the UiPath Assistant successfully connects to Orchestrator.
Note:
If the proxy.json file is created manually, ensure its ownership is set to SYSTEM or Administrators. Failure to do so will result in the file being renamed to proxy.json.old, preventing the proxy settings from being applied.
