Hey there! I’ve been in the UiPath world for about a year now
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how I can turn my UiPath skills into a side hustle or a small indie business. Here’s what I’m good at:
-
Creating UiPath Custom Activities.
-
Building Android Apps.
-
Process Automation.
I’m not really looking to do the freelance thing where I work on processes for others. Instead, I’d love to find a direct way to work with UiPath, like getting involved in their marketplace.
One idea that’s been on my mind is contributing some of my activities to the UiPath Marketplace. I’m thinking of having a mix of free activities (maybe with a “Buy Me a Coffee” link) and also some that people could purchase. It seems like paid activities are pretty rare on there.
I’m curious, though, about the potential earnings. Notably, it seems like the paid approach isn’t as widespread in the marketplace, which makes me wonder about its feasibility.
When I reflect on making money with Android apps published on the Play Store, a significant portion of my revenue comes from advertisements, with in-app purchases following closely behind. Interestingly, none of my apps are paid.
However, this tactic may not translate as smoothly to UiPath custom activities. There’s seemingly only one path, somewhat analogous to the in-app purchase model for Android apps. This involves potentially adding certain limitations to the activity and incorporating my own API keys. Users could access enhanced functionality through these keys, which might be offered on a subscription or one-time purchase basis.
With that said, if you have any insights or advice from your own experiences, I’d be genuinely eager to hear them!
