Troubleshooting: High Availability Add-on (HAA) and Redis

What are general troubleshooting steps for the uiPath High Availability Add-on (HAA) and Redis?

Issue Description

HAA is a supported solution based on the Redis in-memory database for coordinating multiple UiPath Orchestrator nodes and unattended robots.

This article provides general troubleshooting and guidance for issues occur during or after installation.

Resolution

An expired HAA license will not affect the functionality of a Redis node/cluster, however it may affect the available support options. The cluster will function normally with an expired license. The license does not enable any capability, as it is an indication of an enterprise support contract.

For issues with Azure Redis, follow the steps in Troubleshooting Azure Redis Connectivity Issues.

Basic connectivity

To determine the network location used for HAA, check the Redis connection string parameters in UiPath.Orchestrator.dll.config.

Follow the steps to verify the cluster installation and confirm the cluster and database status.

Perform a Redis And HAA Connectivity Check:

  1. Ensure the telnet feature is enabled on the Orchestrator server.
  2. Open command prompt in admin mode, write the command : telnet <ipofmaster> <port>. Here, ipofmaster is the IP address of Redis server and port is the Redis port (10000 for HAA, 6379 by default).
  3. With PowerShell, check using the command Test-NetConnection -ComputerName <ipofmaster or hostname> -Port <portnumber>
  4. If the port is enabled and service is listening on Redis server, verify successful connection via telnet.
  5. Once authenticated, it should be possible to run all the Redis commands, like, keys *
  6. If any telnet command returns an error, either the Redis service is not running or the connectivity between Orchestrator and Redis server is not available.
  7. Immediate troubleshooting:
    1. Redis Nodes Show Unreachable
    2. Could Not Connect To Redis At 127.0.0.1:6379 Connection Refused

If the Redis frontend is not accessible, SSH into any node and run the following commands to check the Redis cluster status:

  • rladmin status extra all
  • rlcheck
    • Verification utility used to perform a basic health check, confirm a successful installation, and verify that the node is functioning on Redis Enterprise instances

Logs and details

The following information will help troubleshoot any issue more quickly:

Create a UiPath support case, attaching the troubleshooting steps taken, findings, Redis support package, and collected logs.

For active HAA subscriptions, UiPath will create a support case with Redis, as appropriate, to coordinate additional support.

Instances without an active HAA license will be provided troubleshooting within our scope and may be redirected to Redis support for further assistance.
