Trigger robot

Hi guys,

I want to trigger the robot when the file is existed, but the file will be randomly.
Is there any activity or component that are suitable to do the job?
for example, download a certain image onto the specific path. once the image is downloaded and the robot detected the file, the process will started.

Thanks.

Hi @Amin

You can try the Monitor Event activity with a file trigger.

hi @loginerror
file trigger is an activity?
i have found file change trigger… is that it?

Regards.

Hi,

Probably we can achieve it using FileChangeTrigger activity as @loginerror mentioned.
Then we need to take care that there are some versions of FileChangeTrigger activity.

FileChangeTrigger is valid only inside MonitorEvents activity.
FileChangeTriggerV2 works stand alone.
FileChangeTriggerV3 is valid only inside TriggerScope activity.

It depends on version of UiPath.System.Activities package (and partially UiAutomation). Please check activity name in Properties panel as the following image.

Hi @Yoichi

How we fill the name of the file if the file have a variable name?
i get an idea for this, but on how to fill the properties.

Regards.

Hi,

We don’t need to set Filename property if want to trigger by any file.
The Filename property support wild card, so we can also set like “*.zip” in it. Can you try this?

Hi,

To isolate the cause, can you try the following steps?

  1. Set All at ChangeType property and set blank at FileName property as the following image.
