The File Format and Extension of XXXX file don't match

Hi All,

I am facing this issue while i am trying to open a “.xls” file. This file is being downloaded from an application. The current version of excel on my machine is 2013.I dont want to see this pop up while opening the Excel file. Kindly, help me get this resolved

I think that issue has something to do with excel. Please refer to this if you wish to repair your file:

Also if you´re renaming the file extension to .xls from .xlsx that could lead to the same issue.
check the file first. Let me know if that helps.

Hi, I am facing the same issue with a process that creates a new excel file. I need to save this as .xls but when opening the file, I am greeted with the incorrect format message. The file has not been converted, it has been created as new and output from a data table. Unfortunately many programs used in my company are not up to date and still require the old .xls formats but this is proving tricky!!
