Teams: “Send Group Chat Message” activity not triggering notification (message appears as already read)

Hi everyone,

I’m using the Microsoft Teams → Send Group Chat Message activity.
The message is successfully posted to the group chat — the text and file link appear correctly — but no one in the chat receives a notification or alert.
When users open Teams, the message is already marked as read.

Here’s what I’ve already checked:

  • Teams notification settings for all members are normal (they get notifications for other chats).
  • Message posts fine, but no “new message” alert or unread highlight appears.

may I know which authentication are you using?

if using api with client creds and application scope teams might auto suppress notifications

Are you using Active Directory? Because I had a similar issue and had to talk to the team responsible to get some permissions unlocked.
