The end-user is unable to access the Screen Scraper Wizard in UiPath Studio version 2022.10, despite documentation indicating its availability.
Issue Description
In Studio versions before 2024.10.x, the options for Screen Scraping and Data Scraping do not appear by default.
Root Cause
This issue arises because the "Modern Design Experience" is the default setting in new Studio versions. This design experience only displays the "Table Extraction" wizard for data scraping. Both "Data Scraping" and "Screen Scraping" wizards are now part of the "Classic Design Experience" (Reference).
Resolution
- Open Studio and navigate to Home > Settings > Design.
- Look for the option marked "Use Modern for new projects” and disable it. "Screen Scraping" and "Data Scraping" are both available in the "Classic Design Experience", hence disabling Modern Experience will make these options visible.
- Now, create a New Project. You should now be able to see the option for "Screen Scraping" & "Data Scraping".
For those desiring to return to the "Modern Design Experience", "Get Text" activity can serve as an alternative possessing most of the "Screen Scraping" functionality.
Note: Starting with Studio 2024.10, the modern design experience is the only design experience available for all projects. The classic design experience is no longer an option at the project level or as a global setting. Classic activities are still available under the Classic category and can be added to a project from the Activities panel or the Add activity search bar.
