I had the free 'Automation Developer’ license, which allowed me to create, test, debug, and run RPA workflows on my local machine in Studio.
Today, my free license automatically changed to 'Express User’, and I can no longer use Studio Desktop. I can only open my projects, but I cannot edit or run them, everything is locked.
When I click on any of my local projects in Studio Desktop, the app shows a popup that says:
“Studio Desktop is not available with your current license. Please consider upgrading your license.”
How can I revert to my previous license? the free Automation Developer license?
You can try deleting your organisation on orchestrator and Create new org with your business email..this will upgrade to Enterprise lincense for 60 days.
Thank you @arjun.shiroya. Is there another way to do this, or the only solution is to delete my organisation and to create new with different email? Also, why has this change affected me, while other users who have had it for a long time haven’t experienced any change?
The advice to delete your Org is the wrong one in my opinion and the nuclear option.
Please don’t do that as a knee jerk reaction, lets find out more info.
Please explain more of your setup, you say on a ‘free’ licence.
Are you collaborating with colleagues on the same cloud Organization? Do you know what licence plan you are/were on?
@Jon_Smith Thank you!
I’m currently using Studio version 2025.0.172 STS
My previous license i think was the Community license (per-user installation, Automation Developer), but now it has changed to Automation Express License (Express).
I’m not collaborating with colleagues in the same cloud organization, but my colleagues have had the same licenses for a long time (more than 60 days) without any changes.
I don’t want to delete my organization and create a new one. I’d like to find another way to restore my previous Community (Automation Developer) license.
Could you please advise if there’s any alternative solution?
Thank makes sense then, did you happen to start the enterprise trial at some point? Perhaps you did that and you’ve now been downgraded to the free plan?
Please confirm if you are on the Free plan, if so that means you activated the enterprise trial, which has expired. If so you have no choice but to delete your org and start again.
The idea (I think) is that its for enterprise use, and should expire. Community cannot be used for commercial / enterprise use, so once you show you want to test it out for business purposes there is no way back.
Well that confirms it. You activated the Enterprise trial, which once done reverts to the Free Plan.
You dont have another choice, you have to delete the org and start fresh on the community (for non commercial work only) or buy the basic plan at $25 per month.
@nkaizer@arjun.shiroya as suggested by argun deleting the organization is the only solution as you have activated free plan previously we get option to activate free licence pack once it get expired but currently its not allowing to continue same free play .
