How to resolve the error - "Some or all identity references could not be translated..." ?

Issue Description:
Sometimes, the following error may appear during Orchestrator installation/upgrade/migration.

Root Cause:
This error message appears when the user that is being used to configure IIS, neither has enough privileges to create the site nor to write locally.



Resolution Steps:

  • Ensure URL Rewrite is installed. Please download and install URL Rewrite by accessing this site.
  • The user that is being used to configure IIS needs to be assigned to the Policy "Log on as a Batch job"

  • If using a custom account while configuring IIS, make sure the UserName is domain\username

  • If using a Self-Signed Certificate, delete all the pre-existing old/unused self-signed Orchestrator certificates in the system & remove them from the Personal & Trusted Root certification folders. Consider reinstalling the Orchestrator using the new certificate.
