Sign In Pop Up Appears While Accessing Excel

What are the possible causes for sign in pop up to appear when accessing Excel files?

Issue Description:
When accessing Excel file, get a Sign-In pop saying, 'Type the email of the account you would like to use to open "linked file"'


Root Cause: The spreadsheet is linked to another file and the sign in prompt is to enter the email that has access to the linked file. 'Type the email of the account you would like to use to open "linked file"'


Resolution: A sign in pop up under a few circumstances like,

  1. To license the Office product
  2. Formulas that refer to a different file
  3. Other files that are linked to the spreadsheet


Procedure:

  1. Investigate if the Office product is licensed, if yes, pursue analysis with 2 & 3 above points
  2. Click on the Formulas -> Name Manager and see if there are any refers to present in it

  1. Delete the reference and try running the Robot
  2. Also see if there are other files linked to the spreadsheet

  1. Click on Edit Links and delete if any.
