FYI:

There is a known issue when an instance of the Studio Community Edition is running, and the selected workflow contains activities that use hooks to target applications, running a newer version of the .exe installer causes Studio to crash.

For example, with the 2017.1 version of Studio CE (.exe), create a new workflow and add a Click or Type Into activity, using Notepad as target. Studio will crash if you leave it opened and start the installation of a newer version of Community (.exe) installer.
