I am about to attempt my first exam. Do we need to submit any projects or just pass the exam with pearson to get the certification?

It’s ok to just pass the exam with Pearson.

Before going for the exam take some tests… which is also available in the above mentioned links…
You can take the test as many time as you can…
Check the topics… Covered in the UiARD…
Should have good practical and configuration skills in Reframework…
Complete the tasks which is mentioned in the RPA DEVELOPER Advanced course…
