Rename an existing Package (Deal with Error # 2008, One or more entry point Unique Id’s already used in another project)

You may come across a situation where you have to rename your Test automation project. In this post, I will provide steps to handle the scenario.

Let’s say you have created an Test Automation Project, “MyFirstAutomationProject”. After finishing your automation, you published the package, let’s say ‘MyFirstAutomationProject.1.0.0.nupkg’ in Orchestrator, and created a Process.

After some time, you realized you are not following the naming guidelines, or you have to repurpose the automation project, or whatever the case is, and you have to rename the project.

You created a copy of your project or renamed the folder and Test Automation Project to “RenamedAutomationProject” and tried publishing the project '‘RenamedAutomationProject.1.0.0.nupkg’ or tried to upload the new package. It may result in
Error # 2008, i.e., One or more entry point Unique Id’s already used in another project.

To resolve the error, follow the below steps,

  1. Log in to Orchestrator
  2. Delete the Process MyFirstAutomationProject
  3. Go to Tenant, packages, select the MyFirstAutomationProject package, and click versions
  4. Select all versions, including Active and In-Active
  5. Click the delete icon on the top

If “RenamedAutomationProject” has any process/workflow/test case from the “MyFirstAutomationProject”. The above steps are not enough to resolve your issue you need to do some workaround as specified below.

  1. Open your “RenamedAutomationProject”
  2. Convert your published Test Cases to Workflow
  3. Convert your workflow back to Test Cases
  4. Set ignore Publish
  5. Set back to Publishable
  6. Now, Publish your project, or after publishing, try uploading your package. It should resolve your issue.

I believe under the hood, when you change from Test Case to Workflow and vice-versa, it may generate a new unique identifier that resolves the issue.

Hope that helps!
