# Remote Runtime installation query

Hi,

I’m working on an RDP-based automation and would like some clarification regarding the use of UiPath Remote Runtime.

My Setup On Client Machine:

UiPath Studio version: 2024.10.1 (installed on local machine)

UIAutomation activity package: 25.4.2

Installed UiPathRemoteRuntime.msi version 24.10.13 on the RDP (remote) machine

Automation target: Website running inside the RDP session

My Questions:

1. After installing UiPathRemoteRuntime.msi on the remote machine, do I also need to install it on the local (client) machine where Studio is running?

2. Are there any additional steps I should take after installing the .msi on the remote machine (e.g., restarting, verifying services)?

3. How do I verify that the remote runtime is functioning correctly and that selectors are being detected natively inside the RDP session?

Appreciate any guidance or best practices for validating the setup.

No you need to install runtime only in rdp. An extension if needed to be installed

Then ui packages version needs to be compatible check that ..above link hs a compatibility matrix..also restart needs to happen and need to add it to task scheduler..steps present in the link provided above

Use any normal activity or ui explorer and indicate element inside rdp from your studio machine and selectors should be detected mormally without cv or any issues..then it means everything is proper

@Anil_G which extension is installed on client machine because my rdp is just a desktop windows machine and what about task scheduler?

this is the extension [Studio - Extension for Microsoft Remote Desktop and Apps](https://docs.uipath.com/studio/standalone/2023.4/user-guide/extension-for-windows-remote-desktop)

task scheduler on the remote machine it adds automatically just check if added or not
