Recommended OS for UiPath On-Premise Deployment

Dear UiPath Support Team,

I am planning to set up a virtual machine to host UiPath (Studio, Orchestrator, and Robots) in an On-Premise environment and wanted to confirm the recommended operating system. Specifically, I would like to understand:

  • Is Windows required for full functionality (including UI automation and Studio development)?
  • Can Linux (e.g., Debian or CentOS Stream) be used instead, and if so, what limitations should we expect?

  2. Linux can be used for cross-platform processes, but it has limitations, such as the inability to perform foreground UI automation or run Studio.
  3. For an on-premise setup with full UiPath capabilities, Windows Server or Windows 10/11 is recommended.
