Queue retention policy not executing on time

We are using Queues in our Cloud Orchestrator and have set the retention policy action to “Delete” with a retention duration of “1”.

For some reason the policy is not being followed and we would like to understand why that is and also why we have numerous items still in the queue that are 25-48 hours old, when we would expect to only have items in the queue that are “up to” 24 hours old.
