See screenshot below! This picture is quite self explaining.
Lately, I noticed (not always but on several occasions), saving changes on whatever workflow in a StateMachine process does not work as expected.
Sometimes a change on an invoked workflow within whatever State Box, seems to be ‘changed’ (which can be notified with the little asterik on the tab of the concerned workflow). When wanted to save, it does disappear, whatever through hitting Ctrl+S (also with Shift+Ctrl+S) or clicking the Save button on the ribbon.
On several occasions on which I had hit [Save] the expected save did not occur (not always) !
Clicking away, the saved tab other than de Main tab and keeping this Main open, then clicking on the bar directly beneath the tab(s) (the bar also mentioning ‘main’ on the left side and on the far right tell you ‘expand’, ‘restore’ e.g.), it appeared on several occassion, the little asterisk expressing a change on the workflow became surpringly visible again, although you have been told by UiPath moments ago (through disappearing of the star the change was saved), meaning the expected ‘saved change’ was NOT saved! UiPath is fooling you around with trick-or-tread, ha!
Today something the same! Not able to save a desired change! (Accepted the latest push of UiPath Community Version 2023.10.1 yesterday)
See screenshot!
Trying to fix a warning on the ‘Error List’-pane. In this case the simple warning having a ‘double’ Display name’ of an InvokeWorkFlow activity.
See the mentioned screen shot above. Notify, I was able (a few minutes ago) to update one the InvokeWorkFlow activities before taking this shot. Now after several attemps I am not able to update anymore the other?
Proof? See gif below !

Be notified! On the project pane on the changed workflow there is not the pencil icon that the file has been updated, although you can clearly see I saved the change. Reopening the expected workflow, it can clearly be seen the Display Names have NOT been changed!
Did not loose the joy of cooking with UiPath, though!
