Preventive Log Maintenance

Logs recently stopped logging on one machine we are using (and old Windows 2008 server). After searching the forum I discovered that I should look at this folder:

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\UiPath\Logs

There were two files there, one named “abcdef.bak1” and the other “abcdef”. The 2nd one hadn’t been updated in awhile. Following some instructions I shut down UIPath, then the second file changed to “abcdef.bak2.” Started everything up again and a new file named “abcdef” was created and we had logs again.

Some questions.

What are these files for? I thought they were just to store logs locally until they could be transferred orchestrator?

Why did the file stop adding data? Was it full or corrupt?

Is there some maintenance that can be run to keep logs clean, or is there something that can be set so that we are notified if logs are failing?
