Orchestrator Fails Loading with Error - "An error occurred and the page will reload. (#199 - No matching state found in storage)"

Why is the Orchestrator crashing with errors like - "An error occurred and the page will reload. (#199 - No matching state found in storage)", "Loading chunk 2257 failed" etc.? How to resolve this?

Issue description:

Sometimes, the Orchestrator crashes with unexpected errors like the following:

  • error_generic(#100)
  • Sorry! An error occurred and the page will reload (#199 - No matching state found in storage)
  • Loading chunk 2257 failed.

Within the Orchestrator user interface, these appear like the following:

Some of the following errors may be encountered in the application event logs within the Orchestrator server(s) in this scenario:

  • System.OperationCanceledException: The operation was canceled.
  • Duende.IdentityServer.Endpoints.AuthorizeEndpoint Request validation failed
  • UiPath.IdentityServer.Web.Stores.UiPathErrorMessageStore invalid_request: --- Redirect URI: ---
  • Error while authenticating an external user from the identity server.System.Data.Entity.Infrastructure.DbUpdateException: An error occurred while updating the entries.

Root Cause:

This issue has been seen to be associated with the Orchestrator certificate and/or IIS settings.

Troubleshooting/Resolution Steps:

Follow these steps to resolve this issue:

  • Ensure that you have a valid Orchestrator certificate that follows these prerequisites.

  • Verify if any unnecessary authorization rules may be blocking the Orchestrator access. This can be verified within IIS. If this is the case, get rid of these rules.

  • Check if the "Deny IP Address based on the number of concurrent requests" option within IIS is configured. If so, uncheck this and check if that resolves the issue. You can find this option under the "IP Address and Domain Restrictions" section for your site within IIS. Simply, click on "Edit Feature Settings" in the Actions pane on the right when you launch the section. See below for reference.
