Differences between NWindowOperation activity and GetActiveWindow activity

Hello
I am using StudioX 2024.10.14 LTS.

Previously, I learned to bring the Edge window to the front using the “Move Window to Foreground” option of the NWindowOperation activity, but there is also an activity with a similar name called GetActiveWindow. How should I distinguish between the two?

@gorby

Move window to foreground option in the NWindowOperation activity actually brings the application window to foreground where as GetActiveWindow activity tells you which is the application window is active or visible on screen and don’t take any action.

Use Window Operation (NWindowOperation) when you want to force a specific, hidden, or minimized window like Edge to the front or change its size.

Conversely, use Get Active Window (GetActiveWindow) when you want to identify or extract information from whatever window happens to already be in focus at that exact moment. Ultimately, choose the former to control a window’s state and the latter to dynamically query the current active screen context.

Hello

GetActiveWindow retrieves the currently active window, so its usage differs from NwindowOperation.
