If I am given a Studio to develop automation, do I need Orchestrator to develop and run the automation? How to gain knowledge on these kind of questions. Thank you,

You can use UiPath Studio to build and run automations.
If you want to schedule the automations you will need UiPath Orchestrator.
The UiPath Academy is a great place to gain knowledge on the portfolio of products that UiPath offers.

Hi @A_Learner,
You need studio for development but you also need orchestrator here even if you don’t plan to run unattended automations from orchestrator.
Reasons:
- you need machine key from orchestrator to activate studio on your machine.
- You need license from orchestrator to be able to use studio. For developer, it will be a named user license, for testing from orchestrator(non-prod/prod), it will be an unattended license.
- When you open studio, based on the folders you have access to, it will show resources in studio meaning you are able to create automations for those folders in orchestrator. if no folders, then you can create automation in your personal workspace as well, but that also you see only when you are connected to orchestrator.
To summarize, you can’t develop an automation without just having studio and no orchestrator. Infact, you can’t do anything without having orchestrator. it is the main component. But studio, you can have only on few machines from where you are going to develop and some only UiPath Assistant which you can use to run attended automations.
UiPath studio, Assistant and Orchestrator are 3 main components which you should gain knowledge on from UiPath academy.
Without these, basic stuff like development, run attended or unattended automations can’t be done.

- You need orchestrator as well as you need a license unless you have a standalone offline license
- You need orchetsrator for using assets as well
- To run automation again if its offline license you can run on dev machine else you need orchestrator connection or you would see a robot error

Hie @A_Learner Studio help you to create your workflow as well as if you want to test you can run it threw Studio.
Orchestrator use it for storing your Asset,Queues Monitoring your process.it also allow if you want to run your process in other machine .
so studio work is only to create process.while Orchestrator work is to Monitor,Manage and Running your process .

@A_Learner you have to setup your account Login into your Account because without Singup you can’t use the Studio. Orchestrator Help you it connect your Studio with the Tentant.
and if you want to use UiPath as a learning purpose Download Studio Community it free of Cost But Have some Restriction you can’t use this for Business Purpose.
