My mail message variable is getting printed in reverse order

hi all,
i have given the entire mail message having three lines in a variable and trying to write it in mail body.but my message is getting printed in reverse order. as follows
1.regards
2.message
3.greetings

How do you have the message (knew it as a variable) - What datatype (String or Collections) ?
