Hello,

Can you please share with me a screenshot of your COM add-ins ?

Dragos.

Well hello there you just volunteered for a little experiment  to be more precisely could you try and regain control of your C:\Program Files\WindowsApps folder Redirecting and them try to reinstall the plug-in

You other alternative would be to reinstall Excel and make sure that it installs in C:\Porgram Files\Office…

Dragos.

I’ve tried the first option and successfully regained control, but I don’t know what else should happen beyond that. Am I installing the plugin inside the WindowsApps folder? Cos I tried reinstalling the plugin and it says it’s already installed.

I’m not sure reinstalling Excel is an option I’m open to exploring at the moment.

Just to mention that this is the last week of the course and I’m still unable to get started.

Having Office installed in that folder means that some time ago you installed office via the store. Now that option is not available anymore. We learned that our addin is not playing well with the office installed from the store. So it would a be a good point to start from: reinstall office if it is possible, so it will be present in the default install location : program files.

Problem with reinstalling Excel is, I can’t find my Microsoft 365 pack. If I reinstall Excel now, how am I supposed to get the activation code?

Guys,

I had the the same problems as you all posted earlier, but then I realised that I had not installed Microsoft Office at all !
I’ve had the license all this time but never installed the Office pack into my laptop. I’ve bee using the Windows App version of Excel, Word, etc.

So, another solution might be,

  1. Open Office App in your PC
  2. Login to your account
  3. Select Install Office
  4. Wait until the installation is done
  5. Now, open StudioX and enable the Excel Add-in
  6. Go to the Excel Addins and check if the UiPath Excel Add-in is there in the Active ones ( for those of you who weren’t able to find it earlier, including me  )

Let me know if this works. Thanks.

Hi Original OP here …

Blockquote

a possible fix should be available on next week update

I’ve installed the latest version of Studio, but now there’s no longer an option to install the Excel add-in.

because you started in Sudio profile. Change profile from Settings to StudioX

Thanks, we’re making progress!

No matter what I change in Trust Settings in Excel I still get the following error
Excel add-in fail

Can you point me in the direction of exactly what Excel settings are required please?

I don’t see the error. Can you please reattach it?

Excel add-in fail

That better?

you have to have like this in trust center:

and also check under Addins-> com addins to see if the addin is enabled:

Enable it if not and restart excel/make sure in task manager there is no excel hanging

Thanks again!

I still don’t see the COM add-in

Craig it seems that you have Excel installed from Windows Store. From your picture I can see that the PowerMap for Excel is in c:\Program Files\WindowsApps.… So if I’m right and the Excel installed from Windows store the plugin won’t work because it’s not supported by Microsoft. You need to install Excel as a desktop application.

Thanks Mircea,

Unfortunately, a lot of the clients I work with will have little control over where applications are installed - especially if its the default. If UIpath cannot work with default Microsoft installations then I will not be able to recommend your product.
