Issue Description

When using the Read Range activity from the Microsoft 365 Excel package in UiPath to read data from a large Excel file hosted on Microsoft 365 (via SharePoint or OneDrive), the following error occurs:

"Microsoft.Graph.ServiceException: Error code: tooManyRetries"

This typically happens when attempting to process Excel files with substantial data volume, complex formulas, or embedded macros.

Root Cause

The Microsoft Graph API, which underpins UiPath’s Microsoft 365 Excel integration, imposes performance and request limitations. Large or complex Excel files often exceed these thresholds, resulting in extended processing times that breach retry limits—hence the tooManyRetries error.

Resolution

Recommended Workarounds:

  1. Process File in Smaller Sections
    • Divide the Excel workbook into smaller files or sheets.
    • Use Read Range on each smaller file individually.

  1. Download and Process Locally
    • Use the Download File activity to retrieve the file.
    • Use the System > Workbook > Read Range or Excel Application Scope activities for local processing.
    • This bypasses Graph API constraints entirely.
