Why is the automation failing with "Job stopped with an unexpected exit code: 0xFFFFFFFF"?
Issue Description
After upgrading the UiPath Robot from version 2023.10 to 2024.10, automations are failing with the error message:
"Job stopped with an unexpected exit code: 0xFFFFFFFF."
This failure occurs during the step where the workflow attempts to terminate the Excel application.
Root Cause
The automation's configuration file included a variable named KillApps.
This variable, defined as an array, contained the value "excel," (with an unintended trailing comma). The misconfigured value led to compatibility issues with the upgraded UiPath Robot version.
Resolution
- Open the configuration file for the failing automation.
- Locate the KillApps variable under the configuration settings.
- Update the value from "excel," to "excel" by removing the trailing comma.
This automation only interacts with a single application, namely Excel. The trailing comma was unnecessary and disrupted the compatibility with the workflow. Ensure the value for KillApps is correctly set as "excel"—without additional characters like commas.
