Is it possible to distinguish whether a human executed it directly or through a trigger?

Hi…

Is it possible to distinguish whether a person executed it directly or through a trigger?

In the Jobs menu of orchestrator, it seems possible to distinguish by the column of Source.
Can this value be get from the program when the process is executting?

Or is there a way to distinguish?

Hi,

In UiPath, it is possible to distinguish whether a process was executed directly or through a trigger by accessing the information available in Orchestrator. The “Source” column in the Jobs menu of Orchestrator provides this information.

However, within the program execution itself, there is no built-in feature to directly retrieve the “Source” value. The source information is specific to Orchestrator and is not exposed to the process during runtime.

To determine whether a process was executed directly or through a trigger within the program, you can consider implementing additional logic. For example, you can create input arguments or define environment variables specific to the trigger or execution source. Then, when running the process, you can pass different values for these variables depending on whether it is triggered or executed directly.

By checking the values of these custom input arguments or environment variables during runtime, your process can determine whether it was executed directly or through a trigger.

Remember that this approach requires manual handling and is specific to your implementation. It may vary depending on your specific requirements and how you have configured triggers and executed the process.

I hope this will help you,

Thank you

HI,

You could use Orchestrator api for that and extract the source information from Get Jobs Api, please follow the below thread:

Is it possible to know which user triggered/started the job from Orchestrator? - Help / Orchestrator - UiPath Community Forum

Thanks.

Thank you!!!.

By referring to the link you provided, I was able to get “Source” through “Get jobs activity”.

Great,

Happy Automation…!!
