Insights - Issues when enabling FIPS on Windows Server

Does enabling FIPS cause any issues with Insights?

There are a couple of different issues with FIPS and Insights.

Installation Error:

ERROR|SetupAESSisenseMetadataKeyCommand|Failed to update encryption key|System.InvalidOperationException: This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms.

Usability Error:
If you’re experiencing issues with the Insights Portal such as ElastiCubes not displaying, failure to delete ElastiCubes, it could also be because of FIPS. Below is an example of an error when trying to delete an ElastiCube with FIPS being enabled.

MongoDB.Driver.MongoConnectionException: An exception occurred while opening a connection to the server. ---> System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.InvalidOperationException: This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms

Resolution:
Go to Local Security Policy -> Local Policies -> Security Options. Check if System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing is set to Enabled. If it is, ask the customer to set it to Disabled and reboot the machine. If the customer has a requirement for it to be Enabled, please refer to
FIPS documentation.
