Inquiry About UiPath Unattended License for Single Machine Deployment

I’m reaching out on behalf of my client to inquire about the best-suited UiPath license for their automation setup. We are planning to run attended or unattended automations on a single machine, without using Orchestrator at this stage.

Environment Details:

  • We will be using Windows Task Scheduler to trigger automation processes.
  • Only one machine will be used to run all processes.
  • We’re currently evaluating whether to use a physical machine or a virtual machine for deployment, and would appreciate your input on that as well.
  • Our preferred setup is likely a VM with an unattended license, if it supports headless UI automation reliably without Orchestrator.

Could you please advise:

  1. Which license type (attended or unattended) would best suit this environment?
  2. Is an unattended license viable without Orchestrator for running processes via Task Scheduler?
  3. What would be the cost of the recommended license?
  4. Would you recommend a physical machine or VM in this kind of setup?

Hi,

If you’re planning to launch automation process based on schedule without human supervise, it’s not allowed to use Attended Robot because of license term

Is there any reason to use TaskScheduler? UiPath unattended robot is designed to be triggered by UiPath Orchestartor and it’s not officially supported to be triggered by other way, probably. (It may work in technical.)

  1. Which license type (attended or unattended) would best suit this environment?

If you are going with attended license - Ideally it is expected to be triggered manually. Someone needs to login and click the play button in assistant to run the BOT. If this is expected - Attended license would work

If your requirement is to schedule in night or any time without human intervention - the only option is to go with Un Attended license. In general - Most of the process are expected to run in unattended mode

  1. Is an unattended license viable without Orchestrator for running processes via Task Scheduler?

Not suggested. It might add a lot of complexity to your run. If you are purchasing unattended license - I would suggest connecting with orchestrator. This is the ideal approach

  1. What would be the cost of the recommended license?
License cost might vary based on your discussion with UiPath depending upon the relationship, number of licenses etc. You can contact UiPath sales for the exact quote. Approximately it might cost around 500 dollars for unattended license and less for attended license

  2. Would you recommend a physical machine or VM in this kind of setup?

Definitely VM for unattended mode and physical machine for attended mode

Hi @arslan_waraich

An Unattended license is suited for your setup and can be used without Orchestrator, triggered via Windows Task Scheduler. The cost varies by region, so you would need to contact UiPath directly for pricing.
A virtual machine is recommended for flexibility, ease of management, and scalability, although a physical machine could be an option if performance is critical.

Happy Automation!
