Indicate application to automate option missing in the Use Application/Browser

Hi there! I started learning with UiPath StudioX, but unfortunately, I got stuck right away while attempting to build the first practice automation. In the e-learning course, it is mentioned that in the Use Application/Browser activity, there should be an option Indicate application to automate or drag a screen from Object Repository‘.

But I only see Drag a screen from Object Repository. I don’t have the option to indicate the application to automate. I have the Google Chrome extension installed and enabled, so that shouldn’t be the problem.

Can you advise me on how to solve this problem? How is it possible that the option ‚Indicate application to automate‘ is missing?

Thank you.

Hi @martina.vesela

Drag and drop the Use application\browser activity from the activities panel. Then you have an option to indicate the application. Click on Indicate application/browser option then indicate on the application which you want to automate.

Check below image for better understanding,

Hope it helps!!

Hi, thank you for the answer, but unfortunately, I don’t have the option to Indicate application to automate. I only see this:

Is there maybe some configuration I’m missing?

@martina.vesela,

Click on these 3 dots and click on Delink from Object Repository option.

Once done, you will get that option to indicate application.

I think you have it set up so object repository is enforced so you have to make everything in the Object Repository first before using.

If thats intentional build it there first, otherwise I think you can turn it off but I am not an expert in Studio X

I tried that and there is no such option as Delink from Object repository.

I think you are right. This suggestion is what Autopilot suggested:

However, I believe I’m unable to modify the Object Repository, as, from what I understand, only Automation Developers have access to it in our company.

Its a Studio setting.
It might be enforced via a policy, which means the automation developers are deliberately restricting what types of automations you can build, which might make sense.
If you cannot change the setting you need to talk to them as its handled by a governance policy and then you need to see what they do and don’t want to allow you to do.
