Im using microsoft 365 scope to download attachments from mail. but the outlook item attached is downloaded as .eml file (I have used Download Email attachments activity) but i need as .msg file . what is the activity need to be used

Hi @244185 ,
Try this once:
Microsoft 365 Scope → .eml
Outlook activities + Save Outlook Mail Message → .msg

Simply renaming .eml to .msg will not properly convert the file.

Thanks

Hi @244185,

Can you share the screenshot? Seems issue with activity or configuration.

Thanks!

Hi @244185,

You can use this package which I have built and it’s in UiPath Marketplace which can be used to save the outlook mail as .msg file.
ADROSONIC - Save Email | UiPath Marketplace

Cheers!

inside the mail there is a outlook attachment

Hi @244185,

The Download Email Attachments activity in Microsoft 365 is intended to download the attachment in its original attachment format. If the attached Outlook item is being returned as .eml, renaming the extension to .msg would not actually convert the file.

If you specifically need a .msg file, you can use a conversion/custom activity after retrieving the mail. One option available on UiPath Marketplace is ADROSONIC - Save Email, which provides a MailMessage to Msg activity to save a MailMessage as .msg.

So the approach would be: retrieve the email/attachment → convert the email object to .msg → save it to the required location.

Hope this helps!

Hi @244185,

In this case, the bot is working fine. The attachment extension is .eml, so it is downloading as .eml.

Changing the extension might not give you the result you want. Try renaming it manually to .msg first. If it works, you can automate that part.

Thanks!

Hi @244185,

You can implement it this way.

Cheers!

@244185 You can download attachment in .msg format, just follow this screenshot.

  1. Use Get Outlook Mail Message activity, give proper details in properties.
  2. Use Save Email Attachments activity and provide all values carefully, and ad filter “.msg”
  3. Run workflow

Attachment on email that I need to save in my system.

Saved attachment.

Thanks,
Ankit
