Title: Unable to Edit or Create Projects in UiPath Studio Due to Attended License
Hello,
I am using UiPath Studio with my university account (Christ University). After signing in, my account shows that my license type is Attended.
Because of this, UiPath Studio displays the message:
“Detected Attended Robot as the license type. Based on the terms and conditions, this license should only be used for running and debugging purposes. Editing is restricted.”
My Main.xaml file opens as ReadOnly, and I am unable to drag and drop activities or create a new project.
However, one of my classmates is using the same university organization and has an Automation Developer license, which allows her to create and edit projects.
Could someone please guide me on how I can get my license changed from Attended to Automation Developer, or how I can contact the administrator responsible for license assignments?
To build/edit a bot, you need an Automation Developer license. The Attended license only allows you to run and debug automations.
If your account is managed by your university, you’ll need to contact your administrator to have your license type changed from Attended to Automation Developer.
If you created the UiPath account yourself, you can configure the license allocation directly. Check the below link:
This looks like a license allocation issue. Your university account is currently assigned an Attended license, which doesn’t allow project editing.
Since your classmate has an Automation Developer license under the same organization, please contact your university’s UiPath/Automation Cloud administrator and ask them to allocate an Automation Developer license to your account.
You can also check with your university IT/UiPath admin to identify who manages the license assignments.
Hi @ALVIRA_MEHNDIRATTA_254316 ,
The issue is that your account has been assigned an Attended User license, which only allows running and debugging automations, not creating or editing projects. That’s why Studio opens workflows in Read-Only mode.
Try these steps:
Contact your University UiPath Administrator and request an Automation Developer (or Student Developer) license assignment.
Ask the administrator to check Automation Cloud → Admin → Licenses → User Allocations and replace your Attended license with an Automation Developer license.
After the license is updated, sign out of UiPath Studio and sign back in (or restart Studio) to refresh the license.
If you don’t know who the administrator is, contact your university’s faculty/lab coordinator or IT team managing the UiPath academic program.
